CHS Students Recognized For National Merit Scholarship Program

Seventeen students at Commack High School earned recognition for their academic performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.
Edward J. and Joyce Z. were named Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. They are among a select group of students nationwide who have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million to be offered in the spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
Fifteen additional students earned recognition as Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. The Commended Students are Ruby B., September C., Noah H., Ava K., Lucas K., Jinhee L., Lucas L., Christine L., Matthew P., Joseph P., Isabella P., Seth S., Brandon S., Steven S., and Rishika S.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the competition by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test).
