Hunter College Professor, Author Speaks with CHS IB History Students
CHS IB History seniors were treated to a lecture on Friday from a Hunter College professor who authored the book they recently completed in preparation for next week’s midterm.
Benjamin Hett, an author and historian, spoke in detail about the demise of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazi Germany during a two-period lecture on Friday afternoon in the high school’s auditorium.
Hett’s books include Death in the Tiergarten, Crossing Hitler and Burning the Reichstag.
He has been a recipient of the Hans Rosenberg Prize for the best article on German history by a North American scholar, the Fraenkel Prize from the Wiener Library in London, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies.
