CHS Students Present At NYSSBA Convention and Education Expo
Schools across New York State were given the chance to learn how Commack School District is preparing students to make the best decisions for their future on Monday evening at the New York State School Board Association’s (NYSSBA) Annual Convention and Education Expo in Manhattan.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jordan Cox presented with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Tim Russo, CHS principal Carrie Lipenholtz, and four CHS students spoke about the creation of Commack High School’s Schools of Study, and how Commack is bringing real world experiences to Commack High School. The presentation also highlighted some of the new spaces that have been built at CHS such as the new Courtroom and the Bloomberg Lab.
Seniors Natalie B., Ishana C., Max L. and Mehek S. shared their real world experiences about how Commack was able to create those opportunities for them.
The eight schools of study were announced in March, and will allow students to gain an exposure to potential career paths before graduating high school. Students in their junior and senior years can choose to enroll in classes to give them authentic learning opportunities in their field of choice. CHS has developed programs for each school to help students connect to professionals in each industry.
CHS Schools of Study will launch in the 2025-26 school year for all juniors, with enrollment starting this Spring.
